Progetto Santeramo in Colle (Bari)
Filosofia del progetto

The progress of the discussions about Santeramo in Colle with Pasquale Natuzzi has been extraordinary: from a symbolic project of urban refurbishment (the initial request) to an ambitious programme for an urban laboratory requiring public involvement in order to carry out a careful and rigorous analysis of the present, and drawing on the past so as to better govern the future. This small town in an outlying area of the province of Bari is home to the largest stuffed furniture business in the world. On the back of acquired social and economic tranquillity, it is now in search of a better quality of life. The laboratory consists of 60 recently graduated architects enthusiastic about having an unexpected and active role in this process; they will listen to the entire community and appeal to its sensibility and intelligence, proposing new ideas and suggestions.
